Grok bots, plugins and prompts: what is the difference?
This directory organizes entries as use cases, plugins, templates and news. These discovery categories do not establish the original platform’s internal architecture. To decide whether an entry can help you, separately examine its method, required connections and actual operating conditions.
1. A bot description explains its intended work
Names, summaries, author stories and public prompts describe roles, tasks and working rules. Primer Bot, for example, asks for official documentation, the current UI and local files, with uncertainty made explicit. These are readable behavior requirements. They do not establish that the directory contains every system instruction or private setting.
2. A plugin concerns tools and permissions
The Salesforce Bot listing describes querying objects and drafting record changes. Those capabilities depend on the correct organization connection and account permissions. Its public text also requires approval before writes. Copying that text does not connect Salesforce or grant additional privileges.
3. A prompt is a readable task instruction
You can inspect or copy a prompt its author has made public. It may contain steps, output formats and action limits. It does not establish the underlying model version, context management, long-term memory, retries or tool isolation. Recheck those operating conditions when moving instructions to another agent.
4. A share link opens the original platform
Add to Grok Bot opens the author’s original share page. Availability, account requirements and tool dependencies depend on that platform’s current state. A local archive can preserve text and screenshots, but cannot guarantee continued access to a third-party share.
